An easy way to compile and install GIMP and other great Free software on your Mac is by using Macports. The installer allows you to choose from a large directory of packages. It will take you to a page where you need to select a version appropriate for your operating system. Once downloaded, mount the disk on your desktop (this should happen automatically) and you'll see a window open like this. I just tried the version on partha.com but it acts just the same as the version from gimp.org. Each time I want to run GIMP I have to opens the.dmg file to start the program. It will not install the normal way, like adding the program to the Application folder. Gimp does not work on my mac or my macbook pro. I downloaded Gimp and installed it but when I try to launch it, nothing happens. A menu item comes up that says ‘Gimp' but all I can do is ‘Quit'.

Step 2- Open Finder and go to Applications
Step 3- Right-click the GIMP app and choose 'Open package contents'.
Step 4- Browse to the GIMP Brushes in Finder -> Applications > GIMP 2.0.app > Contents > Resources > share > gimp > 2.0 > brushes.
Step 5. Drag and drop the brush abr file or files into the brushes folder then go back to GIMP.

In this last step, I've seen instructions for Windows that indicate the brushes just automatically show up. That didn't exactly happen for me; I had to close and re-open GIMP to get the new brushes. Hifi player mac. Google pixel file transfer to mac.
